The Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Agency (PPAPP) is set to soon set up ten new complaint posts for violence against women and children in Jakarta.
It is also to identify the hopes and needs of victims of violence
Those complaint posts will be placed in child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRAs) spread across five administrative city areas. With this addition, there are currently 35 posts spread throughout the Jakarta area, including Seribu Islands.
UPT Center Head for the Protection of Women and Children, Tei Palupi Diah Handyanti said there were two officers at each post consisting of a Counselor with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Paralegal with a Bachelor's degree in Law.
Complaint Service Post on Panggang Island Serves 320 ReportsShe explained every officer at the complaint post had the duty to receive complaints of violence against women and children and conduct initial assessments of victims of violence against women and children.
"Besides exploring the incidents experienced, it is also to identify the hopes and needs of victims of violence. This identification process is important, thus victims of violence receive services according to their needs," she explained, Monday (2/5).
Each officer also had their own duties according to their scientific background and position. Apart from conducting assessments, counselors have the task of exploring the impact or psychological condition of victims of violence against women and children.
"They are also tasked with providing psychological strengthening, providing psychoeducation, and assisting victims of violence against women and children in legal processes such as post-mortem procedures or at the police and court levels," she added.
Then paralegals are tasked with providing legal consultations and providing assistance at the police and court levels.
She continued the Paralegal complaints post also provides diversion assistance and ensures the fulfillment of the rights of victims of violence against women and children, especially regarding protection when accessing legal services.
Even, counselors and paralegals at the complaint post also support the city government's efforts to create a Child-Friendly City, one of which is by conducting outreach to the general public and schools regarding violence against women and children.
"Through evaluation and analysis regarding the existence of complaint posts, its existence has become one of the main gateways for receiving complaints of violence against women and children in Jakarta," she closed.
