Dangerous Snacks Found in SMPN 74

The Jakarta Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) held a hazardous snacks raid in several schools in East Jakarta, Monday (4/13). The raid was focused on SDN 09, 10 and 11 Rawamangun, East Jakarta. But they did not find snacks or food containing hazardous substances. But they managed to find it in another school, SMPN 74's canteen.

Head of Jakarta Food and Drug Agency, Dewi Prawitasari admitted the socialization was done two years ago, and the raid is done to know the result. There are at least 12 food samples investigated.

3 Kilograms of Formalined Meats Confiscated

“We just make sure whether the snacks are clean or not. We want to know what it is containing formalin, borax, methanil yellow, rodhamin B or not. We checked 12 kinds of food in the canteen,” she uttered.

One of food that checked is pudding. Tiara (10) a third-grade student of SDN Rawamangun 09 bought a pudding from SMPN 74's canteen nearby her school. The food is positively containing methanil yellow.

Meanwhile, Dea (36), a canteen keeper at SMPN 74 expressed the pudding is belonging to one of students' parents and she does not know that it positively contaminated with hazardous substances. “Every day, people entrust 8 puddings in my stall. But I do not know if it contained hazardous substances,” she finished
