Acting Governor Heru Makes Pilgrimage to Kalibata TMP

Ahead of Jakarta's 497th anniversary on June 22, the Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, attended a ceremony and made a pilgrimage to the Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery (TMP), South Jakarta, Wednesday (6/19) morning.

It was also attended by Jakarta DPRD Chairman, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi; City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono; Governur Deputy; City Secretary Assistant; mayors, echelon-II officials, and so on.

The ceremony went solemnly and was continued with flower-laying activities on the grave which had been marked with a red and white flag. One of them was the grave of the first Mayor of Jakarta which is in block E number 103.

"Afterward, we made a pilgrimage to the grave of the late Suwirjo, the first Mayor of Jakarta from 1945 to 1947. We wish him the best for his contribution and example in leading this city after the independence of the Republic of Indonesia," expressed the Acting Jakarta, as quoted by the Jakarta Government's press release.

The flower-laying procession then continued from the graves in block A to block E by all ranks.

This moment was hoped that it could create inspiration and motivation for the next generation in advancing Jakarta towards becoming a global scale business city.

Approaching the city's anniversary, he added the Jakarta Government had prepared interesting events to entertain residents of Jakarta.

"The peak of the event is centered at Monas. First, it starts with the ceremony, the plenary session, and then a folk party at Monas in the evening. Then tomorrow morning (6/23), we have the Jakarta International Marathon," he closed.
