Mud Dredging at Sepat Park Retention Pool Accelerated

The South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is speeding up the mud dredging process at the Taman Sepat Retention Pool, Kebagusan, Pasar Minggu.

Every day, personnel can dredge 50 cubic meters of mud

South Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Heavy Equipment Monitoring Officer, Mahardika said the dredging was conducted to anticipate the buildup of mud and maximize Sepat Park's function as a retention pond.

"The thickness of the mud reaches one meter deep. However, our personnel only dredged it to 50 centimeters deep," he expressed, Monday (6/24).

He explained the dredging, which started on May 18, was targeted to be completed in the next one to three months.

"Every day, personnel can dredge 50 cubic meters of mud from this retention pond," he explained.

He hoped that it could restore the capacity of the retention pond to normal. So, it can reduce and overcome the potential for flooding in the area around Pasar Minggu.

"Hopefully, it can run smoothly and quickly," he stated.
