Tekstil Museum Stores 1,914 Collections

The resident's enthusiasm to visit Tekstil Museum on Jalan KS Tubun, Kota Bambu Selatan Urban Village, Palmerah Sub-district, West Jakarta, remain high. There are 50-150 people visit the museum every day.

Jakarta Culture Agency's Museum Implementer Unit Head, Sri Kusumawati, said the museum building has existed since the 19th century. It was used as residential building belonging to a French citizen.

The museum then inaugurated by Mrs. Tien Soeharto, witnessed by Jakarta Governor Ali Sadikin on June 28, 1976.

"Currently, the museum stores 1,914 collections consisting of batik cloth, woven cloth, mixed collections, contemporary fashion and textile collections," Sri said, Monday (9/23).

Sri added that the museum opens on Tuesday to Sunday at 9 AM-4 PM. Averagely, the museum is visited by 50-150 people per day.

Visitors are mostly students, public, community, and foreign tourists.

According to Sri, museum ticket is Rp 15,000 for adult and Rp 50,000 for foreign tourist. Then for student and children is Rp 5,000.
