Regulation Enforcement, North Jakarta Mayor Inspected Nightclubs

To investigate the circular implementation of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department Head No. 34/SE/2015 on the Implementation of the Tourism Industry in Ramadhan Month and Eid Ul-Fitr 1436 H, North Jakarta Administration along with Military (TNI)/Police held sudden inspection (sidak) of nightclubs in four sub-district areas on Friday (6/26) night to Saturday (6/27). The inspected area are Penjaringan, Tanjung Priok, Koja, and Kelapa Gading Sub-District.

The operation went well because we didn't find any violations. But, if we found any industry who violate the rule later, we won't hesitate to give them reprimand or revoke their license

The operation which led directly by North Jakarta Mayor, Rustam Effendi was held in 50 places such as massage parlor, karaoke, nightclubs, steam bath, and hotel.

"Everything is set clearly, which places should be closed and which place had timed operation. I hoped all tourism industry in North Jakarta could obey the circular from Jakarta and Tourism Department  in order to keep conducive atmosphere and respect the Moslem who are worshipping during Ramadhan," he told.

Nightclubs Operate until Dawn, Citizens Worry

North Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-Department, Suwarto revealed, his side didn't find any violations committed by 50 nightclubs management from the operation that involved 170 officers.

"The operation went well because we didn't find any violations. But, if we found any industry who violate the rule later, we won't hesitate to give them reprimand or revoke their license," told Suwarto.

According to him, as many as 217 tourism industry in his area covering 32 bars, 58 massage parlors, 11 billiards , 14 discotheques, a steam bath, and 1 nightclubs should be closed.

Furthermore, as many as 106 industries including 64 karaokes, and 42 live musics are allowed to operate only from 8:30 P.M to 1:30 A.M.
