Long Holiday, 134,943 People Flock to Ragunan Zoo

As many as 134,943 tourists visited the educational tourist destination Ragunan Zoo (TMR) during the Islamic New Year 1447 Hijri holiday until last weekend.

TMR Public Relations Head, Wahyudi Bambang stated, this year's long holiday for 1 Muharram was extraordinary because the number of visitors exceeded the target, reaching 70,000 visitors.

"The visitors increased as it coincided with the school holiday period," he said, Monday (6/30).

19,675 People Visit Ragunan Zoo on Islamic New Year

He detailed, the number of visitors on Friday (6/27), or exactly on Islamic New Year, reached 32,587 tourists. Then on Saturday (6/28), the visitors reached 48,137 people.

"The peak occurred last Sunday, with visitors reaching 54,219 tourists," he added.

However, today the zoo is closed to the public to rest and provide care for the animals so that the animal's health and fitness can be maintained.

"Thank you to the visitors who came, especially those who maintained cleanliness and order during their visit," he continued.

One of the visitors, Arief (37) admitted he was happy to visit Ragunan Zoo almost every holiday. Besides seeing the animals, his visit felt like exercise because of the spacious location.

"I can regularly come here more than five times a year because of affordable ticket prices, so I can go with my family," he admitted.
