Muharram Torch Parade Becomes a Trial for Car Free Night This Saturday

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, revealed that the Torch Parade Carnival welcoming Muharram on Saturday (7/5) will be a trial run for the Car Free Night program.

We are planning the route from Monas to Bundaran HI

The event is planned to involve 10,000 students carrying electric torches.

"We are planning the route from Monas to Bundaran HI. Actually, this is a soft Car Free Night; we want to try it out that way," he said, at City Hall, Thursday (7/3).

Council Awaits Study of Car Free Night Implementation Plan

He explained it was slated to be held at 7 PM. Participants would hold a walking parade from Monas to Bundaran HI along Jalan MH Thamrin.

Besides the parade, there would be religious musician Opick and the band Gigi, as well as hosts Maudy Kusnadi and Mandra.

Then the next day, Sunday (7/6), the event would continue with the Cultural Carnival during Car Free Day (CFD).

There would be around 10,000 artists and cultural figures. It would take place from early morning around 7 AM until noon.

"So, please bring your children and grandchildren to central Jakarta. The first is on Saturday to celebrate Muharram, and the second on Sunday morning," he said.
