Pramono Reminds Urban Village and Sub-district Heads to Fight Illegal Levies

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that there is no tolerance for sub-district and urban village heads in Jakarta who are caught engaging in illegal levies (Pungli) against people in providing their services.

I no longer want to hear about illegal levies

He made the statement during a Townhall Meeting with sub-district and urban village chiefs, as well as the District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam) at Balai Agung Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall yesterday.

"I no longer want to hear about illegal levies. Of course, I will not tolerate this," he expressed, Thursday (12/4).

He instructed all regional leaders, especially the newly inaugurated sub-district and urban village heads, to provide the best service to the public. He even promised to give new promotions to those who excelled.

"For those of you who excel, I have no hesitation in promoting you all. For me, there's no need to go through long bureaucratic queues," he explained.

He also provides opportunities for outstanding urban village heads to participate in study visits to other countries.

"Will they come with me to Tokyo, to New York, or at least one of those so they can see the world. Because I believe that people who have seen the world will definitely have a much broader mind," he stated.
