70 Tons of Meat Prepared in Market Operation

As usual, Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared various ways to suppress meat price hike ahead of Idul Fitri. One of them is by opening the market operation (OP) that providing 70 tons of meat.

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama, until this time, there are still 70 tons of meat stock, and will be distributed in 5 cities through market operation. "We still have 70 tons of meat from PD Dharma Jaya," said Ahok at City Hall, Monday (7/13). 

The number one man in the city also has instructed PD Dharma Jaya to add the meat stocks. It is purposed to be able to compete with the importers who sell meat with high price. 

Suppressing Price Hike, Market Operation Opened in 37 Urban Villages

"We will spread the meat in our markets. That's why, we want the stocks could be more next year thus can compete the kind of whole meat importer. They can sell it more expensive. But us, can anticipate it," he disclosed. 

He went on the say that over the latest 4 years, the inflation in Ramadhan this time is the stables. In future, such market operation will use a non-cash system which aims to avoid speculator. 

"We don't want to provide hundreds or dozens tons of rice if the buyer is unclear. If the buyer is clear, I think it would make the speculator think," he uttered.

As reported earlier, the market operation of cheap meat is slated to open in 37 urban villages, which falls on July 13-14.
