November, DIgital Library Launched

The City Administration is planning to launch digital library. The launching will be held coincide with World's Letter Day.

The Jakarta Governor is targeting us to have 5,000 titles of books in the library.

Head of Jakarta Library and National Archives (BPAD), Tinia Budiati stated, some publishers such as Kanisius, Gramedia and Erlangga have been disposed to support the program. Those publishers have participated for creating e-book or electronic book.

According to her, the program aims to persuade citizens in increasing their reading interest in digital era. The program she create will be packed in an e-Jakarta application.

She told, the application is so easy to remember as it can be downloaded using android cellular phone, ipad, tablet or other similar electronic gadgets.

"The Jakarta Governor is targeting us to have 5,000 titles of books in the library. But currently we only collect about 2,000 of them. We target to collect all of them in the upcoming November," she told, Wednesday (8/12).

She explained, about 2,000 titles of books have various content. Ranging from school, college textbooks, general knowledge, figures profiles, etc. Including popular books nowadays have been inserted to the digital library.
