New South Jakarta Mayor Inducted

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama inaugurated the new South Jakarta Mayor, Tri Kurniadi this noon. Formerly, it would be held tomorrow Friday (8/14), but it is speeded today at 1 PM. 

If they don't approve, we will still inaugurate. As there are no laws regulating that a mayor or regent cannot be inaugurated, even though has no approval from legislatives. We just announce them

Previously, Ahok told the inauguration only requires to wait the decree. "I'm just waiting while the decree prepared," said Ahok at City Hall, Thursday (8/13)

He expressed, the new mayor will still be inaugurated, even though Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) does not approve it. Considering, the inauguration of echelon officials is the prerogative right and authority of Governor. The government only announces the DPRD that the governor is inaugurating new mayor. 

Ahok to Demote South Jakarta Mayor

" If they don't approve, we will still inaugurate. As there are no laws regulating that a mayor or regent cannot be inaugurated, even though has no approval from legislatives. We just announce them ," he asserted. 

As reported before, Ahok had demoted the previous mayor, Syamsuddin Noor as he was considered not strict handling street vendors. His performance was also considered slow, for example the land acquisition of MRT at Jalan Cipete Raya and Jalan Haji Nawi, South Jakarta.

Currently, Syamsuddin Noor serves as staff of City Secretary. Originally, Tri would be inaugurated by Ahok on August 6 ago. But due to administration problems of Legislatives has not been done, he postponed it.
