River & Channel Normalization in East Jakarta Intensified

To face rainy season, the normalization towards channels and rivers that spread in East Jakarta keep being intensified. It aims to optimize water absorption areas.

Head of Flood Control Maintenance System Section for East Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Mukhid said to normalize Kampung Ambon's channel, one amphibious vehicle, one long-arm excavator, and 14 trucks are deployed to the field.

In Ria Rio Dam, Pulogadung towards inlet Pulomas Water Pump, the sediment is normalized up to 2.2 meters deep. It aims to optimize water debit that goes to the pump.

"We also sent an amphibious vehicle to destroy concrete to widen the water space to the pump. It could reduce puddle around Pulomas," he told, Tuesday (8/18).

Another normalization also intensified in Baru River in Gunung Antang, Matraman. The reason is, the water cannot flow since the last six years.

"We try our best to flow the water using heavy equipment. Whereas, the river can save Jalan Penegak RW 1, 2, and 10 in Palmeriam Urban Village from flood," uttered Mukhid.
