Betawi Preservation, E. Jakarta to Add More Betawi Festival

After being legitimized, East Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-Department will add more Betawi Festival. The effort aims to attract young generation to know more, understand and love Betawi culture.

with competition and festival. They can channeling their passion and skill,”
said Sri Catur Setyowati, Head Section of Culture Development for South Jakarta Culture and Tourims Sub-Department, Sunday
(8/30).
She considered
there are three things of preservation namely protection, development and
utilization. In terms of protection, her party held art performing activity
routinely for students with the aim of
instilling a love of young generation to the art of Betawi culture.
“We had Gambang
Kromong Festival for Gambang Kromong group whole East Jakarta,” she said.
While in terms of
development, we need innovation and creativity that the arts could be developed
following public taste, so it can live and sustainable. “There would be more
studios invited to enliven the event,” she expreesed.
At least, there
are 196 art studion from several segment exist in East Jakarta currently.
