Minimize Fire, Basuki Encourages Residents Moving to Flat

Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama continues to encourage residents living in slums to immediately move to the flats.

If you build a house with a small cable, it will easily cause fire

Temporarily, the effort is prioritized those near riverbanks and reservoirs. Besides normalization, it also aims to minimize fire potential.

Governor Approved Kampung Pulo Flat Construction Concept

"If you build a house with a small cable, it will easily cause fire. That's why we encourage residents to be relocated," he said, at City Hall, Tuesday (9/29).

Ahok added, the current flats have also been equipped with pipeline gas, thus they do not need to use gas cylinder. "Thus, any risks could be prevented, especially fire," he explained.

As for the fire that hit Jembatan Besi area, Tambora, West Jakarta a while ago, he also has offered its residents to be relocated.

This way had been applied to Kampung Pulo, East Jakarta. If its resident has land certificate, they will get doubled compensation or 1.5 fold. But if it is only girik (customary land appointments), they only get 1.2 fold.

"Meanwhile, if the land is not yours, I will relocate you to the apartment. You can stay there. You just pay for the maintenance by Rp 10,000- Rp15,000 per day," he finished.
