Ahead of Christmas & New Year, Modern Market will Be Inspected

Jakarta Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperatives Sub-Department (KUMKMP) will be monitoring goods sold in minimarts, supermarts and other modern markets ahead of Christmas and New Year.

It's as an effort to protect consumers

Head of Jakarta KUMKMP Department, Irwandi stated the monitoring will involve Jakarta Drugs and Food Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

"We learned from previous year that many unworthy goods sold in supermarts ahead of Christmas and New Year," he stated, Tuesday (12/8).

He expressed the monitoring is conducted by checking the foods and drinks directly in the markets.

"It's as an effort to protect consumers," he uttered.

He told that it will be held on December 14-17, 2015. The supermart and minimart proven selling broken, unworthy, expired goods will be evaluated.

"If such goods found during the monitoring, we can evaluate it even the market license could be revoked," he asserted.

He added, not all goods sold in modern markets are in good condition and worth to be consumed. Based on last experience, many can foods found broken, rusty and expired.
