Reported by Rudi Hermawan | Translated by Rini Elvira
Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama said that numerous amount of old TransJakarta buses and drivers’ indiscipline are the causes why the mass transportation often involved in accidents. He assessed such a thing happened because TransJakarta bus operators do not work well and have not able to conduct improvements. For that, he asked PT Transportasi Jakarta as TransJakarta bus management to act firmly to those operators.
That (accident) will happen if there were many old buses and (indiscipline) drivers. If operators fooled us, just kick them. If they didn’t follow my rules, so be it
“That (accident) will happen if there were many old buses and (indiscipline) drivers. If operators fooled us, just kick them. If they didn’t follow my rules, so be it,” he stated, Friday (7/4).
According to Basuki, as long as still using bureaucracy system, the service of TransJakarta bus will never good. Because of that, he wants the transition process of TransJakarta management from Management Unit (UP) to PT Transportasi Jakarta, which is city-owned enterprise (BUMD), to be conducted immediately because it would improve the professionalism and quality of TransJakarta bus management.
TransJakarta Bus Hit Tree, 21 Passengers InjuredThe discourse of TransJakarta bus management transition from UP to PT has running since January 2013. However, the transition itself was just begun on May 20, 2014, when the company held general meeting of shareholders (RUPS) at City Hall.
Besides TransJakarta bus, when PT Transportasi Jakarta has fully operated in early 2015, the company is also planned to run the whole mode of transportations in the capital city, namely MRT, LRT, Kopaja, and Metromini.
