Jokowi Will Back to Work at City Hall on July 23

Following the announcement of 2014 presidential election on Tuesday (7/22), the leave taken by non active Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo will end, and back to work at the City Hall on Wednesday (7/23) tomorrow.

Mr. Jokowi will back to work as usual tomorrow

Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama stated that in accordance with permission, Jokowi only get leave since June 1, 2014 until presidential announcement from the General Elections Commission (KPU). "Mr. Jokowi will back to work as usual tomorrow. In the letter mentions, he was temporarily suspended until presidential announcement," he said, at City Hall, Monday (7/21).

According to him, when returning to the office, Jokowi must also convey a letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono through the Home Ministry, that he has re-served as Jakarta Governor. If not, he would be considered negligent and did not work.

Ahok: Jokowi Wins, Residents Allow Me Lead Jakarta

If Jokowi takes additional leave, he must first back to the office on July 23. Then he could file leave to the President. If it was approved, Basuki would serve as Daily Executive Jakarta Governor again.

He expressed that if his status becomes Daily Executive Jakarta Governor, his authority will not be optimal or very limited as Acting Jakarta Governor. "If Mr. Jokowi's leave is approved, he must make a letter to appoint me as Daily executive but not Acting anymore. And I cannot attend and decide the plenary meeting, as well as lead the leader meeting, TPUT. There should be an authority letter from Jokowi per meeting. This is the disadvantage," he exclaimed.
