Seribu Islands Deserted, Recreational Sites Crowded

Tourists from various areas packed the city's popular recreational sites, Seribu Islands on the second day of Eid ul Fitr 1435 Hijri holiday. No wonder, as many as 20 tourists have rented hundreds of lodgings and resorts in some islands, Seribu Islands.  

The tourist will keep creeping up, considering lodging reservations would expire on Sunday (8/3)

The tourists have began to crowd the islands since Saturday (7/26), and is predicted to keep creeping up until Sunday (8/3). Based on the data by Seribu Islands Tourist Association, lodging reservations will expire on Sunday (8/10).

Head of Seribu Islands Tourist Association, Mickey Musleh disclosed on regular days, the number of tourists is only 5,000 people, and increased to 20,000 people on the second day of Eid ul Fitr holiday. "The tourist will keep creeping up, considering lodging reservations would expire on Sunday (8/3)," he expressed, Tuesday (7/29).

Lodging Rent in Seribu Islands Increased 20 Percent

he stated that tens of thousands of tourists stay in 500 lodgings, namely Pramuka, Tidung, Pari, Harapan, and Untung Jawa Islands.

Besides enjoying snorkeling, tourists also visit and enjoy in the perawan pasir beach (pari island), tanjung pengantin beach (pramuka island), and turtle breeding. "I predict the number of visitors is higher than last year," he predicted.

Head of Seribu Islands Tourism Sub-Department, Suwarto revealed increase in the number of tourists has been going since a few years ago. Commonly, they are dominated by non-Muslim or Tioghoa people.

"Perhaps, many people visit to the Seribu Island because their housekeepers were homecoming. Most of them had ordered lodging until this weekend and next week," he reported.

According to Suwarto a surge of tourists is a blessing for the tourism industry and Seribu Islands people. This is because, if it is assumed to individual pay Rp 350 thousand for tour package, his side can predict the revenue derived plus another revenue beyond tourism package.

As for the sea transportation, Jakarta Transportation Department has provided 9 ships and 42 traditional boats in Kali Adem Dock to serve tourist.

To optimize security, his sub-department has coordinated with police and urged people to be a good host to tourists thus they can stay in Seribu Islands comfortably.
