Dreaded Thing by Jakartans is to Pay a Fine, Ahok Says

"Rp 11 million has been remitted during two days of towing cars parked haphazardly," he stated, Tuesday (9/10).

According to Akbar, this towing and fine policy makes the amount of illegal parking in the capital city decreasing.

“Yes, it is quite decreasing because people are not afraid of being hit, but afraid of being charged,” he said.

Now, the raid area is expanded to Gajah Mada, West Jakarta. In addition, Jakarta Transportation Department also received reports from the public to control illegal parking.

“I received order from the residents to tow (vehicles parked haphazardly), such as in Pramuka, Pasar Baru, and Gunung Sahari. Some (reports) came in from vice governor then he gave it to me, and some others went straight to me. Well that’s good, I got something to do,” uttered Akbar.
