New Parking Tariff Rp 5,000 per Hour Imposed

As many as 11 parking meter machines are going to be installed this evening, Thursday (9/25), by Jakarta Parking Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) on Jalan Agus Salim (Sabang), Central Jakarta. When it is done, each vehicle parked will be charged for Rp 5,000 per hour.

There are 11 machines to be installed. The meter parking policy will be imposed tomorrow, Friday (9/26), with tariff Rp 4,000-Rp 5,000 per hour

Central Jakarta Parking Operational Manager, Zainal Arifin, explained that the installation is intentionally conducted at night because the activities in that area are high during the day, which worried might hinder the installation process.

“The installation is scheduled to be done by private party at 10 PM. There are 11 machines to be installed. The meter parking policy will be imposed tomorrow, Friday (9/26), with tariff Rp 4,000-Rp 5,000 per hour,” he stated.

11 Parking Meter Machines will Be Installed on Jalan Agus Salim

To monitor and direct motorists who park their vehicles along Jalan Agus Salim, tens of personnel will be deployed round the clock in three shifts.

“We prepare 50 personnel who are divided in three shifts. One shift is about 10-15 personnel to stand guard,” he said.

According to Arifin, motorist who wants to park their vehicles must first pay the parking tariff using the parking machine that will then issue ticket stating how long the vehicle can be parked. If the vehicle owner parked longer than the tariff paid, there will be officers to remind them to pay more using the machine.

“To ease vehicle owners who don’t have coins, the officers will provide coin change,” he told.
