97 Buildings on Tubagus Riverside Demolished

As much as 97 buildings located on the Tubagus Angke riverside or on Jalan Kebon Pala up to Jalan Fajar Aladin, Pejagalan, Penjaringan were demolished, Thursday (10/23). The location will be built for green open space.

We have difficulty in installing the sheet pile because of illegal shanties

The riverside was full with illegal shanties in the last ten years. Moreover, the existing road was used by traders and difficult to access.

Pejagalan Urban Village Head, Alamsyah, admitted there were complaints related to the riverside condition. There is also no sheet pile in part of 3 km riverside and caused inundation n RW 06, 07, 14, and 15 of Pejagalan Urban Village.

"We have difficulty in installing the sheet pile because of illegal shanties," he said, Thursday (10/23).

According to him, his side deployed 145 personnel of Satpol PP, army, and police to curb the shanties.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Acting River and Reservoir Normalization, Heriyanto, stated the road will be widened and heightened after the demolition.

"The width will be 4.5 meter and 7.7 height," he stated.
