Cultural Sites in North Jakarta are Temporarily Closed

During extension Micro PPKM period, number of cultural sites in North Jakarta will be temporarily closed from June 22 to July 5, 2021.

Museums are temporarily closed to reduce social contact and prevent COVID-19 transmission

"Museums are temporarily closed to reduce social contact and prevent COVID-19 transmission. As well as activities related to art, culture, and social which are held in public areas and other places will be canceled since it is feared to cause crowds," said Rofiqoh, Head of North Jakarta Culture Sub-agency, Friday (6/25).

This policy, he added, is implemented according to Jakarta Gubernatorial Decree No. 796/2021 on Micro PPKM Extension and Culture Agency Head's Decree No. 253/2021 on Closure of Museums and Cultural Arts Performance Buildings During Micro PPKM Extension Period.

For cultural sites in North Jakarta, such as Maritime Museum, Rumah Si Pitung, will be closed temporarily. While for cultural heritage such as Tanjung Priok Station, VOC Shipyard Building which is functioned as Raja Kuring Restaurant and Cafe will remain open but with strict health protocol.

His side will continue to take care the cultural sites in North Jakarta by carrying out routine maintenance to make sure those areas are clean and well-maintained.

He appealed residents to postpone visits to cultural sites until the situations are safe and better. Especially, current COVID-19 cases are increasing and people must be aware of it by limiting their activities outside.

"It would be safer to stay at home for the time being and always comply with 5M health protocol," he asserted.
