Honesty of JXB Employee, Iqbal Receives a Special Gift from Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy

Muhammad Iqbal, an employee of the Jakarta Experience Board (PT Jakarta Tourisindo) received a special gift from Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno for his honesty when carrying out his duties at the Nagrak Rusunawa, which is a quarantine center for overseas travelers.

Sandiaga specifically communicated with Iqbal via video calls. Besides expressing his appreciation, he also offered holiday gifts according to Iqbal's interest, who likes beaches to travel to Mandalika.

"If you like the beach, I will suggest a vacation to Mandalika, moreover I also want to go there next week for MotoGP. We can also come together for hospitality training," he expressed, as quoted from a press release received by the editor, Friday (2/18).

In Iqbal's statement, he found foreign currency denominations in the cleaned room. To his boss, he told that the findings of money worth 2,050 euros and 3,000 dollars or equivalent to Rp 65 million belonged to one of the quarantine guests.

"I remember my mother's message, that work must be honest. So I immediately reported this matter to my boss," he admitted.

Syaiful Amin, the owner of the money found, shared his experience through his Facebook page. The incident began when he was being quarantined in the Nagrak Rusunawa after returning from Egypt.

But, he realized that his money was left at the quarantine location when traveling home after finishing the quarantine. He returned to the Nagrak Rusunawa and went straight to the front office. After confirming the ownership of the money, the money was returned.

"I feel so relieved. I thank Muhammad Iqbal, a janitor who found my money. Honesty is getting more expensive in difficult times like today. There are many choices for him but he chooses to do the right thing," he added.

Even, Iqbal also received appreciation from the company where he worked. JXB President Director, Novita Dewi sent a sign of gratitude and appreciation in the form of cash amounting to Rp 15 million and an offer as a permanent employee.

"Thank you to the entire JXB team at Nagrak Rusunawa, especially Iqbal for working with integrity. Hope this can inspire others to serve wholeheartedly," she explained.

She also expressed her gratitude to the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry; Health Ministry; BNPB Head, Maj. Gen. Suharyanto; Pangdam Jaya, Maj. Gen. TNI, Untung Budiharto.
