Regional Representative Council (DPD)  Senator Dailami Firdaus assessed that the Betawian people must be the core community of Jakarta and it is stated in the Law (UU) which regulates Jakarta's status after it is no longer the capital city.

"As DPD RI Senator from the electoral area of Jakarta, on various occasions, I try to convey and fight for Betawi people to be the core community of Jakarta, which is stated in the Law regarding Jakarta's status after it is no longer the capital city. The social order of Betawi people must be strengthened through institutionalization," he conveyed, Friday (5/6).

Therefore, he encouraged all parties, especially Betawi figures and elders to fight for the status of the Betawian people as the core community of Jakarta in the revision of Law No. 29/2007.

"Let us fight together thus Betawi people in Jakarta can get more attention from the government before it is too late," he said.

The National Research and Innovation Agency Researcher Siti Zuhro also agreed and said that local culture was an important social capital in global development efforts.

"I agree with Prof. Dailami's statement. If you look at other provinces that also bear the title as special regions, including Aceh, Papua, and Yogyakarta, the indigenous people from these regions also get privileges in the laws that regulate specificity," she uttered.
