The Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency and the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) will deploy 865 personnel to examine sacrificial animals and meat on Eid al-Adha, which falls on July 10, 2022.

If there is an animal suspected on D-day, please contact veterinarian and nearest authorized officers

That personnel are planned to be deployed to the sacrificial animal slaughtering houses throughout Jakarta to ensure the animals meet the criteria and the meat is safe for consumption.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head Suharini Eliawati mentioned that the 865 personnel were from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI), academics from Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), and other veterinarians.

"We also cooperate with communities, such as Halal Slaughterer (Juleha), whom we have given training for three years to speed up the process of slaughtering thus the meat can be quickly delivered to mustahiq (the recipient)," she said, Thursday (6/30).

On the field, personnel would check the health of sacrificial animals and monitor the slaughter process to ensure it is following Islamic Law. The animals should be thoroughly inspected to ensure they are safe for consumption.

"If there is an animal suspected on D-day, please contact a veterinarian and nearest authorized officers. Because if it is not by Islamic law, it does not qualify as a sacrificial animal," she asserted.

Ahead of Eid al-Adha, personnel from the Jakarta KPKP Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Subang Veterinary Center (Balitvet) would also take blood and soil samples to ensure the sacrificial animals were free of anthrax disease.

She explained that the animals monitoring and inspection are carried out referred to the Governor's Regulation (Pergub) No. 10/2022 on Guidelines for Eid al-Adha Implementation and Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) No. 32/2022 on Guidelines for Eid al-Adha Implementation during the Covid-19 Pandemic and PMK.

"Because people have the right to healthy livestock," she closed.
