South Jakarta Parekraf Sub-agency Holds Kebayoran Lama Festival

This is important to promote and preserve Betawi cultural arts

The South Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-agency (Parekraf) is holding the Kebayoran Lama Festival (FKL) in the courtyard of the Cipulir Transmart Building, Kebayoran Lama.

Kebayoran Lama Sub-district Head Iwan Santoso appreciated the festival which was held in collaboration with his staff.

"This is important to promote and preserve Betawi cultural arts," he expressed, Saturday (8/27).

According to him, Jakarta continues to improve every day to beautify itself and build facilities and infrastructure according to the needs of its residents.

In this case, the participation of the community's contribution is also deemed to be involved to keep flowing with innovations.

"This activity can also help improve the local economy," he stated.

Kebayoran Lama Festival Committee Chairman Afrizal explained that the event will be held until tomorrow. It presents the performance of Betawi arts and cultures such as gambang kromong (traditional Betawi orchestra) music, martial art, Betawi dances, and tumpeng decorating competition.

There are 33 MSME stands selling various Betawi food and drinks such as kerak telor (Betawi-style omelet made of duck eggs and rice), soto (soup), dodol (a traditional toffee-like sweet made of palm sugar), bir pletok (herbs and spices-based beverage), rujak (mixed sliced fruit and vegetables served with spicy palm sugar dressing), and so on.

"We also provide blood sugar checks and measles immunization for children under five," he stated.
