The Jakarta administration is participating in the We Love Cities (WLC) 2022 event which will start from September 19 to October 31, 2022.
The global OPCC committee selects one to three finalists from each country
WLC 2022 was attended by 75 cities from 32 countries, including three finalists from Indonesia and produced two winners globally. These three finalists consisted of Jakarta, Balikpapan, and Probolinggo.
Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said the WLC program is a continuation of the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) program.

“The global OPCC committee selects one to three finalists from each country. In Indonesia, three national finalists were selected. National finalists from each of the OPCC participating countries will participate in the 2022 WLC," he expressed, Tuesday (9/20).
He explained WLC is a competition in carrying out community engagement campaigns around the world to express support for sustainable urban development.
The statement of support could be realized through voting on the selected city's web page on the WLC website, the use of the city's campaign hashtag on social media and the number of suggestions the community put forward.
“As a finalist city, Jakarta will automatically become one of the participating cities for the WLC campaign. WLC is raising its support for voting Jakarta as the most loved city #WeLoveJakarta," he continued.
As for the information, the OPCC is a global friendly competition between cities in the context of tackling climate change.
The OPCC Committee and an OPCC Jury consisting of international urban experts assess the climate action and climate ambitions of cities and assess their alignment with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
The valuation considers the alignment of the city's climate action plans with science-based targets, the balance of mitigation and adaptation actions in achieving these targets, as well as the ability to lead and innovate in the face of challenges in climate change.
