The Artha Gading Pump House development which is located on Jalan Boulevard Artha Gading, North Jakarta, finally completed, Tuesday (1/17). Shortly, there will be an operational test of the pump before it is handed over to the Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA).
North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Adrian Mara Maulana said the Artha Gading Pump House is capable of minimizing inundation in Kelapa Gading Barat, Kelapa Gading Timur, and Pegangsaan Dua urban villages.
Anticipating Inundation, Channels in Cipayung Directed to Reservoirs"This pump house will draw water from the Artha Gading Connecting Channel directly to Sunter River, to then be flowed into the sea," he expressed.
He went on to say that the contractor had conducted a pump commissioning test with the Jakarta SDA Agency in early January. Technically, it was already completed with three pumps, where two pumps have 3,000 liters per second capacity and one pump has 1,000 liters per second capacity.
It was also completed with two pumps for mud with 250 liters per second power and sluice gates.
Kelapa Gading Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head, Citrin Indarwati assessed that the existence of pump houses effectively minimizes inundation. He cited that when there was heavy rain with long intensity on January 1, 2023, the opening of the pump house sluice gates was effective in overcoming inundation on Jalan Raya Gading Kirana.
"When it rains for a long time, the inundation on the road can be as high as 50 centimeters. Yesterday, it was only about 10 centimeters and the receding time was faster," he concluded.
