The Jakarta Provincial Government encourages the synergy of all parties to accelerate efforts to reduce air pollution. Besides forming an Air Pollution Control Task Force, the Jakarta Government also instructed regional officials/work units in regional officials to urge the public to improve air quality. It is stated in the City Secretary's Instruction Number 66/2023 on Efforts to Accelerate the Reduction of Air Pollution Levels for the City Secretary.

To participate in reducing pollution with various steps

City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono said public participation was crucial to speed up the government's efforts to reduce air pollution. Hence, his party coordinated with the mayors, regents, sub-districts, and urban villages.

"I want them to urge the public to participate in reducing pollution with various steps, such as starting to protect yourself from pollutants by wearing masks," he expressed, in the Jakarta Government's press release, Tuesday (9/5).

He explained there were many ways the public could help the government in reducing pollution. Saving energy use starting from home can be started, for example, by turning off the lights and cutting off the source of electricity when it is not being used. In terms of mobility, people are urged to use public transportation to travel. If you use a private vehicle, carry out a vehicle emissions test and use environmentally friendly fuel.

"We also encourage them to plant trees and plants in their respective environments, and adopt clean and healthy living habits, one of which is by increasing walking which has many health benefits," he added.

To realize this, he instructed the mayors and regents to coordinate the sub-district and urban village heads, then reported the results of their implementation regularly every two weeks through the City Secretary's Development and Environment Assistant.

Then they should urge sub-district heads to assign sub-district elements to carry out coordination, outreach, mentoring, monitoring implementation, and reporting the results regularly every two weeks to the mayor or regent.

"Local urban village heads to assign elements of the urban village, RT/RW to coordinate with each other to urge the public to work together in reducing pollution. This is joint work that requires seriousness from all parties," he asserted.
