Thousand Trees Planted in Seribu Islands for Jakarta's Blue Skies

The Seribu Islands Regency administration, conducted tree planting action with the President, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo virtually on Tidung Kecil Island, South Seribu Islands. There were about 100 participants consisting of civil servants, public figures, police, and national army (TNI).

Seribu Islands Regent, Junaedi said the tree planting action was conducted to make Jakarta's sky blue. It is following the President Decree number 24/2008 on Indonesian Tree Planting Day.

"Thank God, today, we plant trees along with five other city areas. It aims to reduce air pollution in Jakarta and its surrounding areas," he expressed, Wednesday (11/29).

100 Trees Planted in Kembangan

His party received 3,000 tree seeds from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. They consisted of water guava, avocado, sapodilla, trembesi, and mahogany.

"We're also donating mango trees. We will create a mango garden on Tidung Kecil Island," he uttered.

He added some of the productive tree seeds would also be distributed to six sub-districts in Seribu Islands. The planted tree seedlings could later be enjoyed by residents.

"Hope this action can be sustainable. We also invite the island community to take part in it," he stated.
