PSO System Application, City Gives Rp 1.35 Trillion to PT Transportasi Jakarta

As known, Central Government raised the price of fuel (BBM) on March 28, 2015. The increase triggered the increase in prices of basic needs and transportation cost in capital.

We will pay the public transportation through PSO (Public Service Obligation)

Along with it, Jakarta Provincial Government allocated Rp 1.35 trillion in Government Participation Investment (PMP) to apply the rupiah per kilometer system for all public transportation which under PT Transportasi Jakarta management. 

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) said, the Jakarta Provincial Government already had a clear system to apply rupiah per kilometer system or the so-called Public Service Obligation (PSO).

"We will pay the public transportation through PSO (Public Service Obligation)," told Basuki at City Hall, Monday (3/30).

Basuki continued, the Jakarta Provincial Government will cover the cost of all citizens who cannot pay the transportation cost by using PSO.

"It means, if the citizen cannot buy the fuel, we will give subsidy to them, but we will give the in the form of additional number of buses as Kopami and Kopaja," he told.

He added, the subsidy through PSO will give advantage to all public transportation operators in Jakarta. "We will not take money again, I asked the operator to join with us, because they will get profit certainly. We will pay them by rupiah per kilometer system, they can apply for a bank loan to get a good bus," he revealed.
