No More Mercy for Formalined Foods Peddlers

PD Pasar Jaya gave a stern warning to the peddlers not to sell foods that containing dangerous ingredients such as formalin and borax. If it is proven, the trade permit will be revoked and will be evicted from the market.

We will keep cooperating with the Food and Drug Control Agency (BPOM) to hold raid as this is their authority

Such warning is given because there are still many peddlers selling foods containing formalin and other dangerous ingredients. It was uncovered during a raid in some traditional markets that held by the Jakarta Maritime, Fishery, and Food Security Department.

"Actually, this is not a new thing. That's why we will keep intensifying socialization about danger of formalin or borax to the peddlers," stressed Public Relations Manager of PD Pasar Jaya, Agus Lamun, Saturday (4/4).

According to Lamun, if the peddlers are still recklessly selling those foods, they cannot sell in the market anymore.

"We will keep cooperating with the Food and Drug Control Agency (BPOM) to hold raid as this is their authority. Thus far, there are 5 free-formalin pilot markets, namely Cibubur,  Grogol, Koja, Johar Baru and Tebet Barat," he told.
