Kota Tua Street Vendors will Be Relocated Soon

A number of street vendors in Kota Tua area will be relocated by West Jakarta Administration to a empty land as wide as 4,900 square meters owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia on Jalan Kemukus, Taman Sari.

We will cast a firm sanction for any vendors who sell in Kota Tua

Kota Tua Management Unit Area (UPK) Head, M Kadir Sasmita told, the land is located beside Taman Sari Sub-District. Through relocation plan, the Kota Tua area could be sterilized from street vendors.

"We will cast a firm sanction for any vendors who sell in Kota Tua after relocation because we have give them solution to sell without making Kota Tua area looks slum," he explained (4/25).

Meanwhile, West Jakarta Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperatives Agency (KUMKMP) Head, Slamet Riyadi uttered prior to relocation, more than 500 vendors who were recorded are not the guidance of Kota Tua Cooperative Arrangement Efforts (Kopetaf). That is why, they would be selected first before relocation, considering its number continues to increase.

"Besides that, the relocation site will also be used as parking lot," he uttered.
