Jakarta Ready to Support the AFC Asian Cup 2026

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung received an audience from the Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI) regarding Jakarta's preparations for hosting the AFC Asian Cup 2026.

"This is a momentum for Indonesian Futsal National Team to continue shining,"

FFI Chairperson, Michael Sianipar stated that Indonesia has been entrusted with hosting the Futsal Asian Cup 2026 which scheduled for January 2026. Given the event's scale and futsal's popularity in Indonesia, meticulous preparations are required.

"So, we are from the Indonesian Futsal Federation are coordinating with PPSI as well, having this meeting with the Governor to report on the plans for the AFC Asian Cup which will take place in January 2026, next year," he said at Jakarta City Hall, on Tuesday (3/18).

Michael conveyed that the AFC Asian Cup is a major competition on an Asian scale. The Indonesian Futsal National Team is currently ranked 24th in the world. Last year, the team won the AFF Futsal Cup 2024, defeating Vietnam and Thailand.

"This is a momentum for Indonesian Futsal National Team to continue shining, and now we have been entrusted by the AFC to host the Futsal Asian Cup 2026," he expressed.

In this opportunity, he reported on the preparations, including the infrastructure needed for the AFC Asian Cup 2026 to Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung. He hopes the city government will provide support for the event.

"For example, if 16 teams are coming to Jakarta, we need to ensure they are well accommodated. We will also need to prepare the venue and meet the AFC's requirements, such as having four training fields ready," he asserted.

The AFC Asian Cup 2026, he added, is planned to be held at Indonesia Area and Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area. Therefore, his side also coordinate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

According to him, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung welcomed the event and the necessary infrastructure preparations will be made by the relevant agencies.

One of the preparations include the improvement of fields and several sports centers (GORs) to meet international standards, which will be used for training by teams from various countries.

"Our realistic target is to reach the semifinals. But personnally, I hope we can make it to the final," he said.
