Commission E Follows Up on Outcomes of Total School Renovations

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission E held a working meeting to discuss the follow-up to the inspection results of several schools that have undergone total renovations in West and Central Jakarta.

"We want to provide the best for our children,"

The four schools visited were SDN 05 Grogol in Grogol Petamburan; SDN 04 and SMPN 291 in Kembangan Utara, Kembangan; as well as SDN Duri Pulo and SDN Cikini in Central Jakarta.

Commission E Chairman, Muhammad Thamrin, said that his party had coordinated with Jakarta Education Agency to ensure that the results of the school renovations were truly optimal.

"As long as the contractor is still within the maintenance period and is willing to take responsibility and make improvements even with better quality, I think there’s no more issue," said Thamrin at Jakarta DPRD Building, Wednesday (6/11).

He emphasized that the current focus of Commission E is to ensure that all school facilities, including lifts for students, can function safely and properly. In addition, other technical issues such as leaking ceilings, standing water in toilets, rooftop leaks, and sports facilities.

"This is the core of the issue we are highlighting," he added.

Thamrin stressed that DPRD will take a firm stance in handling school renovation issues, as education is a sector that receives significant attention from the Kebon Sirih parliament.

"We want to provide the best for our children, especially for Jakarta residents," he asserted.

Furthermore, Thamrin requested the Jakarta Education Agency to continue coordinating with contractors so that all problems related to the facilities and infrastructure of the renovated schools can be resolved immediately.

"Insya Allah, everything can be completed this week. There should be no more problems," he mentioned.
