To suppress the meat price hike, the City Administration will hold market operation. Currently meat price has reached Rp 120,000 per kilogram. It is the same before Eid-ul Fitr.

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama stated, the operation will be conducted by PD Dharma Jaya and PD Jaya Market. The price sold in the operation is lower than market price, that is amounted to Rp 85,000 per kilogram.
"We have provided it by Rp 85,000 per kilogram. Honestly, the stocks are being prepared," said Ahok at City Hall, Monday (8/10).
Meat Peddlers Walk Out, City to Hold Market OperationAccording to him, market operation of meat will also be held by Trade Ministry and the State Logistics Agency (Bulog). Thus the meat price is expected could be stable soon.
He targeted could handle 20-30 markets for meat sales. The purpose is for controlling market price. "It's like a cartel, we can't prove it. But if we can handle 20-30 percent of markets, we could be better next year," he said.
He claimed on Eid-ul Fitr ago, the meat price controlling quite succeeded. But it precisely hiked after Eid.
"It's the same on Eid ago, we've sold them all, but the needs come again and we're not ready yet," he explained.
As known, meat peddlers in some areas, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Serang and other cities agreed to do the walkout of selling as they protest about government policy limiting meat import.
The walkout action begins on Sunday (8/9) until Wednesday (8/12), and possibly extended if there is still no solution from the government.
The reason of the action was because the peddlers loss due to the minimal meat supplies that cause hike price and the decrease of customers number.
Meanwhile, Bulog is holding the operation in 3 markets in Jakarta. They sell meat by Rp 89,000 per kilogram up to Rp 90,000 per kilogram. It is way lower than the current average price in markets amounted to Rp 120,000 per kilogram-Rp 140,000 per kilogram.
