Normalization Work of Rawa Badung Reservoir Keeps Accelerating

East Jakarta Water Management Sub-department accelerated the normalization of Rawa Badung reservoir, Jatinegara Urban Village, Cakung Sub-District. The work focuses on cleaning connecting channel and dredging sediment.

The target is completed in November. So far we have not encountered any obstacles

"Dredging is done in order to restore its function to be back normal. The works have been conducted since Monday (8/17) yesterday," said Ahmad Yazid Bustomi, Head of East Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Tuesday (8/18).

According to him, the area used to be illegal residential. Rampant illegal buildings standing on 4.4 hectares land area.

Rawa Badung Reservoir will Be Re-Functioned

"We follow up after we demolished it by cooperating with East Jakarta Satpol PP," he uttered.

To expedite the dredging work, his side deployed two units of standard excavator. In addition, 5 trucks with a capacity of respectively 13 cubic meters were prepared for transport.

"We still have 10 units dumb trucks with a capacity of respectively 5 cubic meters to help," he stated.

With these strengths, Bustomi optimistic that the normalization can be completed according to the target.

"The target is completed in November. So far we have not encountered any obstacles," he disclosed.
