January-October, 217 HPR in South Jakarta Secured

Hundreds of rabies spreader animals (HPR) in South Jakarta secured. It is as anticipation of rabies contagion from animals to human.

The most animals reported are dogs which are abandoned by the master

"Since January until October, there had been 217 animals secured. Consisting of 82 dogs, 124 cats, and 11 monkeys," said Head of South Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security, Kristrisasi Helenandari, Thursday (11/5).

According to her, the catching of the wild animals was residents' report claiming they are worried with those animals existence. Moreover, many of the animals in residential are abandoned. "The most animals reported are dogs which are abandoned by the master" she explained.

6 Animal Got Anti Rabies Vaccinated

The animals secured, she continued, then brought and examined in Animal and Fish Healthcare Center (BKHI), Ragunan, South Jakarta. If the animals potentially can be healed, they will be cured intensively. But if they get worse, the elimination process will be conducted.

"The monkeys which are sterile from rabies will be quarantined, as for cats and dogs can be adopted with certain requirements," she told.
