Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama rejects offer from PT Adhi Karya to build monorail in the capital city.
I met PT Adhi Karya yesterday. They offered us (Jakarta Provincial Government) to invest there (monorail), but we reject it
“I met PT Adhi Karya yesterday. They offered us (Jakarta Provincial Government) to invest there (monorail), but we reject it,” stated Basuki, Thursday (10/30).
According to Basuki, the offer is rejected because he learned from previous experience where monorail construction was managed by PT Jakarta Monorail (PT JM). In the tenure of former Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, the construction was stalled, but then continued when Joko Widodo served as Jakarta Governor. Now, because of some requirements cannot be met by PT JM, the project is suspended again.
Jokowi Instructs PT JM to Re-continue Monorail ProjectThe requirements that must be met by PT JM are business plan aspect, property, bank guarantees, et cetera. Until now, PT JM still unable to show proof to Jakarta Provincial Government that they have Rp 15 trillion to build the mass transportation, because they cannot meet city’s request to give guarantee as much as five percent of the total investment to the city.
Basuki does not want PT JM build monorail with property rights capital derived from Jakarta Provincial Government. PT JM requested property rights for about 200,000 square meters for business development. If they rent it for Rp 25 million per year, they will get Rp 50 trillion in 10 years, while the monorail construction investment value is only Rp 15 trillion.
For that reason, Basuki chooses to let alone the monorail poles stood in Senayan and Kuningan.
