1,000 Mangroves and 200 Corals Planted on Karang Bongkok Island

The Seribu Islands Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency is planting 1,000 mangroves and 200 coral reefs on the coast of Karang Bongkok Island, Panggang Island Urban Village, North Seribu Islands Sub-district.

Today we are doing reforestation in the form of mangrove conservation and also coral reef education

Seribu Islands KPKP Sub-agency Head, Devi Lidya said those mangroves and corals were planted on west and north banks.

"Today we are doing reforestation in the form of mangrove conservation and also coral reef education," she expressed, Thursday (3/10).

PBKL Involves Students to Plant 5,000 Mangrove Seedlings

She said it was realized in collaboration between her staff and the owner of Karang Bokok Island to develop marine nature-based conservation tourism. It was because there were seagrass, coral reefs, and mangroves in the coastal vegetation. As for the land vegetation, there were breadfruit and butun trees.

"This is a natural embankment in an island," she said.

Therefore, her sub-agency would always support the action of reforestation, as it was a very good concept of nature.

"This action will continue. We'll support it," she stated.
