City to Look for Another Developer to Build Monorail
Reported by Erna Martiyanti | Translated by Nugroho Adibrata
Jakarta Provincial Government finally stop the monorail project due to PT Jakarta Monorail (JM) as the developer cannot fulfill the requirements requested by Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama. However, Jakarta government still provides an opportunity for other developers to work on the project.
I reject PT JM, instead of monorail program. Technically, they cannot fulfill my request
Although the project is stopped, Ahok disclosed, it does not
mean he is not agree with the monorail program. He was not in line with the
developer, PT JM.
"I reject PT JM, instead of monorail program.
Technically, they cannot fulfill my request," he exclaimed, at City Hall,
Tuesday (12/9).
He continued, if there is another developer, the project
will be re-considered. This is because the capital needs a lot of transport
modes, especially rail-based.
According to him, until the time limit specified, PT JM
unable to fulfill three requirements. They are bank guarantee by 30 percent of
development value, depot relocation in Tanah Abang and Setiabudi. "They
(PT JM) failed to fulfill our requirement. The bank guarantee is about Rp 30
percent, but they wanted only 1 percent. This is not make sense," he
expressed.
Even, he had done a spatial analysis for depot construction
in Tanah Abang and East Flood Canal (KBT), Setiabudi. This is because, his
party rejects the project to avoid imbalance in its development. Thus it causes
the existing infrastructure damaged.
"We asked PT JM to look for another place that makes
sense. If not, we will reject it," asserted Ahok.
