Jakarta was appointed to host the International Publishers' 33rd Congress, which will take place from November 10 to 12, 2022,
at the Fairmont Hotel, Senayan.The event in collaboration with the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf), the International Publishers Association (IPA), the Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI), the Jakarta Book City Committee, and the Jakarta Experience Board (JXB), will be filled with seminars that raise issues related to the latest issues and information about the publishing and book industry.
Again, Ikapi Holds Indonesia International Book Fair at JCCJakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono in his written statement stated that Jakarta being appointed to host the International Publishers' Congress is something that should be celebrated as a result of the collaboration between the community, publishing industry players, and the government in developing the book and literacy industry.
"It is directly related to the theme of reading matters, embracing the future, and Jakarta's commitment after being selected as the City of Literature by UNESCO," he expressed, Thursday (11/10).
Jakarta Disparekraf Head, Andhika Permata asserted that he was ready to work with publishers, community groups, and literacy volunteers for the advancement of the book and publishing industry.
"We are ready to work together to encourage the progress of the book and publishing industry, both on a national and international scale," he stated.
Jakarta Kota Buku Committee Chairperson, Laura Prinsloo added Jakarta as the center and starting point of the Indonesian publishing industry is aimed at ensuring that books have an important role in the lives of residents.
"The success of this congress will be Jakarta's dedication to Indonesia and the world, to build the welfare of local and global communities through books," he concluded.
