Using Formalin, 7 Traders in Palmerah Market Secured

A sudden inspection (sidak) once again held in Palmerah Market, Jalan Palmerah Barat, Gelora Urban Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (7/1) dawn. The raid was led by Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Arifin accompanied by Head of Central Jakarta Marine, Agriculture, and Food Security Sub-Department, M Mulyadi.
We secured 5 chicken traders and 2 tofu traders to be brought to the Tanah Abang Sector Police for questioning
During inspection, the officers were immediately taking 40 food samples belonging to traders. The samples are consisting of such as chicken, meat, meat ball, chicken feet, beef rind, intestine, fruits, tofu, rice and vegetable.
3 Kilograms of Formalined Meats ConfiscatedThose samples then checked by health staff and found 5 chicken meats and 3 tofus containing formalin.
“We secured 5 chicken traders and 2 tofu traders to be brought to the Tanah Abang Sector Police for questioning,” he said.
Mulyadi, Head of Central Jakarta Marine, Agriculture, and Food Security Sub Department expressed the inspection is aimed to detect the tofu factory location, thus police will take stern action against the factory owner.
On the other hand, Arifin, Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta acknowledged this second inspection is purposed to create safety for people in consuming food.
“Inspection
is done again, because we had found dangerous foods at the same market. But this time is different than previous raid, where the traders who proven selling dangerous food will be processed by the law," he disclosed.
