Tens of Thousands of Visitors Throng to Ragunan Zoo

The Ragunan Zoo (TMR) is still the main choice for residents to spend Idul Fitri holiday and May Day rally commemoration, Monday (5/1).

TMR becomes an alternative tourist spot

Since early morning, visitors have packed TMR area using both private vehicles and public transportation. Even the queues started from Jalan RM Harsono and Jalan TB Simatupang to the entrance to TMR area. Hundreds of officers ranging from army/police, Satpol PP, Transportation Sub-agency, Pramuka Scouts to TMR's internal security officers seemed busy managing the traffic flow of visitors' vehicles.

Not only outside, the visitors even seemed busy enjoying the shady atmosphere of the trees in TMR area and the cute behavior of zoo animals.

TMR Public Relations Head, Wahyudi Bambang said, to provide services to visitors, his party opened two ticket sales service lines online and offline. The ticket prices offered are cheaper and affordable to the residents' pockets. Adult visitors are only charged at Rp 4,000 and children at Rp 3,000.

"The visitor data that entered as of 10 AM totaled 13,505 visitors. Ticket are sold using two systems to facilitate service and prevent queues of visitors in front of the ticket sales counter," he expressed, Monday (5/1).

Based on the data, visitors came using private vehicles as well as public transportation and buses. It was recorded that 38 visitors came using bicycles, 1,813 using motorbikes, 864 cars, and 17 buses.

Suciati (34), a visitor from Depok admitted that she chose to go to TMR, as it was close from her house and the entry fee was cheaper. Coincidentally, she had guests from her hometown in Brebes, so he asked for an inexpensive but fun tour.

"TMR becomes an alternative tourist spot. Besides cheaper, it is also suitable for children's education. Because there are many kinds of animals in TMR. Moreover, the location is also close from my home," she stated.
